The Welsh Language Board's Voluntary Sector Strategy

In its Voluntary Sector Strategy, the Welsh Language Board identifies groups that are strategic priorities in seeking to develop bilingualism within the sector:

Bodies working on a community level that have close contact with the public

Large, prominent bodies that have a high profile in Wales

Bodies operating in traditionally Welsh speaking areas

Bodies that provide care and health services

Bodies that receive substantial public funds.

Regardless of whether you are one of these priority groups or not, the fundamental message lies in the fact that strengthening your organisation's bilingual image is a matter of good practice in order to ensure that Welsh speakers are not alienated or excluded. Operating in accordance with the principles of inclusion and equality is vitally important if you want to offer a service on an equal footing to Welsh and non-Welsh speakers alike in a modern bilingual Wales.

Please contact Estyn Llaw for further advice and guidance on any of these matters.
