Criteria for the Development Fund

The Welsh Language Board's aim is to make the fund is available to 3rd Sector organisations with Welsh Language Schemes which have been approved by the Welsh Language Board.
Priority is given to organisations which relate to one or more of the 'Strategic Priorities' category in the Welsh Language Board's Voluntary Sector Strategy.
Organisations may not apply for funding in order to contribute towards the cost of services which are part of an agreement with a public body when such provision forms part of its statutory functions
Organisations that already receive direct funding/grants form the Welsh Language Board will not be eligible for funding from the Third Sector Development Fund.
Projects that will be financed are those that wouldn't otherwise be implemented without the support of the Development Fund.
Organisations may not apply for funding in order to achieve basic elements of their Welsh Language Schemes.
Applications which mainly concern the translation of written material are unlikely to be accepted.

Funding

As a guideline, applications for the funding may be in the region of between £2k and £5k. However, applications for less than this are also welcome. Voluntary organisations will need to finance part of the project themselves or from other sources, with up to 70% of the expenditure coming from the Development Fund. Staff / volunteers' time may contribute towards this element.

The Third Sector Development Fund for 2011/12 has now closed.
Applicants will be informed whether or not their bids have succeeded by early July 2011. The fund is administered by Estyn Llaw and funded by the Welsh Language Board.
