Community development in Wales already recognises the importance of the Welsh language in attracting those living in communities to participate in projects and feel ownership of projects within those communities. In the
National Strategic Framework for Community Development in Wales, the Welsh Assembly Government and Community Development Cymru state that:
“Wales is a bilingual country, and community development activity needs to understand and acknowledge this in practice. At its simplest, this means allowing people to participate in the language of their choice, whilst working in an inclusive way.”
