Third Party Providers and Recipients of Public Funds

Did you know that your voluntary organisation has a particular responsibility with regard to bilingual provision if it is providing services on behalf of a public body or is receiving money from public funds? Organisations that are 'third party providers' on behalf of a public body have to comply with the relevant sections of the statutory Language Scheme of the public body that has commissioned the work.

If your organisation is receiving public funds, you should consult a document published by the Welsh Language Board called 'Awarding Grants, Loans and Sponsorship: Welsh Language Issues'.

“Public bodies operating Welsh language schemes should…ensure that voluntary…sector organisations receiving grants, loans, sponsorship or other funding make appropriate use of Welsh when undertaking activities in Wales…Those activities include the provision of goods and services; arranging activities in which the public take part; the distribution of printed material and the publication of websites.”
